Welcome to the Alabama Academy of Irish Dance

Promoting the traditional Irish arts in Alabama through the instruction and performance of Irish dance and  music.

What do we do?

The Alabama Academy of Irish Dance (AAID) is a non profit organization that promotes the Irish arts by holding  Irish dance classes  for children and adults, performing throughout Alabama,  and providing workshops for the general public.

In addition to teaching Irish dance,  some of our programs include:

 AAID  School Performance Program:
Students of AAID are  introduced  to the role of being a performer, learning teamwork skills, and giving back to the community by entertaining the elderly or sick. Dancers in this program earn community service hours for every performance completed.

AAID Professional Performance Troupe:
When students reach an advanced level they are invited to try out for the Professional Troupe which handles all major performances and media opportunities.

AAID School Enrichment Project:
Throughout the school year  dancers with AAID visit various public and private schools in the Birmingham and Tuscaloosa area. Our program introduces children to Irish dance, music, and culture in addition to how to be a good Irish audience .
